NS ECONOMIC BUREAU

NEW DELHI, July 7: Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) proposes to introduce a liberalised scheme for importers wherein 80 per cent of the goods will be cleared without any detailed examination.

CBEC chief R Gopalnathan said the new scheme would become operational in the next ten days.He said the details of the scheme were being worked out and would be notified shortly. This was a virtual extension of the green channel facility for importers at customs houses, he said.
