Bhansali remanded to furhter judicial custody MUMBAI: Chairman of CRB Caps Limited, Chain Roop Bhansali, main accused in the Rs 1000 crore scam, was further remanded to judicial custody till July 21 today. Additional Chief Metropolitan magistrate S D Dhumal, before whom the accused was produced, also granted Bhansali's custody to the general branch of the city police. The Economic Offences Wing of the city police, investigating the duping of small investors, would make a fresh remand application before the 37th metropolitan magistrate's court tomorrow. Id-e-Milad to be observed on July 18 NEW DELHI: Id-e-Milad-ul-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, will be celebrated on July 18, the Shahi Imam and Khateeb of the Capital's historic Fatehpuri mosque, Maulana Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, announced here today. Probe demanded into Guptipara firing CALCUTTA: The West Bengal Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today demanded that the State government institute a judicial inquiry into Sunday's police firing claiming one life and injuring another at Guptipara under Balagar PS in Hooghly district. In a memorandum to State Home (Police) Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya at the latter's office, Congress MP Pradip Bhattacharya, opposition chief whip Abdul Mannan, and MLA Saugata Roy, said that the firing could have been avoided if there was adequate police deployment. Enquiry into Narmada poisoning INDORE: A magisterial probe has been ordered into the incident involving alleged discharge of poisonous chemicals from two liquor factories into the Narmada river resulting in the death of fish along the 50-km stretch of the river. Khargone district collector C P Arora ordered the probe after Revenue Commissioner, Indore division, Iqbal Ahmed confirmed that the Narmada water was polluted due to the release of effluents from the two liquor factories in the region. Draft Wakf Bill to be proposed in AP HYDERABAD: A draft bill for giving statutory status to minorities commission would be introduced in Andhra Pradesh Assembly soon, State Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said here today.
