Fall in gold arrested

MUMBAI -- The downtrend was arrested and both the precious metals shot up sharply on the bullion market on fresh purchases at lower levels coupled with restricted supplies from the international markets.In London, gold price was fixed at $ 319.65 per ounce as compared to $ 317.30 yesterday. Ready silver shot up by Rs 115 to Rs 6265 on speculative buying by industrial units at lower levels. Standard gold flared up by Rs 50 to Rs 4390 from Rs 4340 at the previous close. 22-carat gold improved by Rs 45 to close at Rs 4060 from Rs 4015. Ten-tola gold bar .999 purity firmed up by Rs 500 to Rs 51,300 from Rs 50,800.

BUS 95 dividend

MUMBAI -- Unit Trust of India (UTI) declared an income distribution at a rate of 12.5 per cent to all its unit holders under Unit Scheme 1995 (US 95).It also announced an appreciation of 14.50 % (pro-rata) under its Senior Citizens' Unit Plan. The apreciation will be applicable from June 30 and this will be reinvested. Under the scheme, UTI would pay an annuity of 12 % to unitholders who have completed 58 years of age as on June 30, by repurchase at the prevailing repurchase price as on July 1.

Janata S Bank

MUMBAI: Janata Sahakari Bank, Kalyan has recordeddeposits of Rs 101 crore against Rs 74 crore last year and thus acquired a eligibility crieteria for obtaining a scheduled bank stauts. The bank has earned Rs 3.45 crore as profit against Rs 1.96 crore last year.

Johnson

MUMBAI -- Johnson & Johnson (India) recently entered the OTC category for the first time by launching their international antacid, Mylanta. Mylanta is an antacid and antigas containing two acid neutralising agents as well as an antiflatulent agent to give reliefs from both, acidity and gas.
