Mumbai Notes -- No govt funds for MMRDA
The state government will no longer be paying the mandatory fund of Rs five crore to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for its activities. In a bill moved to amend the MMRDA Act, the state government said MMRDA had become fully self-sufficient and had funds of around Rs 2000 crore. JEE re-exam n The Joint Entrance Examination for the year 1997 are being re-conducted on July 19 and 20 all over the country. Due to logistic reasons, change in centres have been made in some cases. Five centres have been changed in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The five centres are - New English School (Thane), Government Engineering Collage (Rewa), Sardar Vallahbhai Government Polytechnic (Bhopal), Government Engineering Collage (Jabalpur) and Hadas High School (Nagpur). British airways The strike-affected British Airways today announced resumption of its flights operating from London Heathrow to Delhi, Calcutta and Dacca following the airline claiming availability of cabin crew members. However, the British Airways flight to and from Mumbai remained cancelled, as announced earlier for today, tomorrow and Saturday. Hawkers rally The Hawkers Action Committee has organised a massive rally on July 15. All the hawkers will go on one-day strike and participate in a morcha to Mantralaya.
