Statescape -- International youth conference at Puttaparthi


MUMBAI: A three day International Youth Conference will be inaugurated by Sri Sathya Sai Baba on July 16 at Puttaparthi. According to Shri Indulal Shah, chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva organisations, the conference will be attended by 2500 delegates from 55 countries and 10,000 youth from India. The conference will focus on how to prepare the youth to carry out the three fold social service activities of the organisation, in the spiritual, educational and service realms, before they step into the 21st century. At the end of the deliberations, everyday a cultural programme will be organised. Sri Sathya Saibaba will be addressing the youth on 16, 17 and 18 July.

CPI MLA M K Kesavan dead

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M K Kesavan, Communist Party of India MLA representing Vaikom constituency in the Kerala Assembly, died at the Regional Cancer Centre here this evening. He was 61. Kesavan had been under treatment for cancer of the prostrate gland. Several hours before his death at 4.10 pm the Kerala Assembly adjourned at around 11.00 on the basis of misinformation that Kesavan had died. The House was, however, reconvened by the speaker M Vijayakumar at 4.00 pm to correct the mistake, five minutes before Kesavan died.
