Kramnik leads; Anand second

DORTMUND, JULY 11: Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand of India drew with Boris Gelfand of Belarus to remain at second spot while overnight leader and top seed Vladimir Kramnik of Russia stretched his lead after the sixth round of the Silver Jubilee international chess tournament here.

Kramnik (5) consolidated his position beating the highest rated Woman Grandmaster Judit Polgar of Hungary (3.5) to increase his lead over Anand (4).

Anand was forced to split points with Gelfand (2.5) after being driven to a tight spot. Vassily Ivanchuk, who beat Nigel Short (2.5), and Anatoly Karpov shared the fourth spot with three points each.

RESULTS (6th round): Kramnik (5) bt Polgar (3.5); Anand (4) drew with Gelfand (2.5); Ivanchuk (3) bt Short (2.5); Karpov (3) drew with Topalov (2.5); Yusupov (1.5) drew with Robert (2.5)
