Abducted for Rs 400 only

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

July 14: The Thane city police are seeking 28-year-old Ansan Chandrakant Gaikwad on charges of kidnapping a three-year-old boy for a paltry sum of Rs 400.

The accused, a resident of Pilaje in Bhiwandi taluka, was a temporary Class IV employee with the Thane district collectorate. While in service there, he was known to have demanded small sums of money from a lady clerk in the office.

On July 1, he demanded a sum of Rs 400 from her at her residence, which she denied him.

Following this, an enraged Gaikwad went to the lady's house and kidnapped her three-year-old son, Nikhil Dinkar Mahadik, under the pretext of offering him sweets. The police are still on the lookout for Gaikwad.
