Salem, July 16: In a tragic incident, a six-year-old girl died after she fell into a cauldron of boiling `sambar', being prepared under the government's noon meal scheme at the Athanurpatti panchayat union primary school near here. The bizzare mishap ocurred when the child was rushing with her plate, along with other children, to get her share of the noon meal. She was pulled out of the vessel by the ayah and others, and admitted to the Government Hospital, where she succumbed. Vazhapadi police have registered a case.
