Narayanan: A town waits to erupt in joy


KOCHI, July 16: Uzhavoor, a small town in Kerala, is poised to step into history. The home town of K R Narayanan is only awaiting the formal announcment of his victory in the country's Presidential elections, expected on Thursday, to erupt in joy. A grand fireworks display has been planned and a villagers have organised a big rally, with caprisoned elephants and panchavadhyam music, to Narayanan's ancestoral home at Perumthanam. A public meeting will be held later. Elaborate preparations for celebrations are also being made at Our Lady's Lourde High School, Uzhavoor, where Narayanan had his upper primary education, and the Uzhavoor Government Lower Primary School, where Narayanan studied till the fourth standard.
