CHENNAI, July 16: A nine-year-old girl was seriously injured when a ball-like object she found near her house and played with, exploded. The girl Raji's sister, brother and grandmother also received minor injuries in the blast in the Kulathoor area of the city. Raji found a plastic bag hidden under some tiles near her house, and, on opening it, found two round objects. While playing with one of them, she stamped it, triggering the blast in which her right foot was severed. Police have seized the other object, found to be a crude country bomb. Further investigations are in progress.
