Karipur airport records all-time high gold import
KOZHIKODE, July 16: Karipur airport here registered a record import of 655 kgs of gold through the legal channel on Monday. As many as 66 passengers from West Asian countries each brought in the maximum permitted 85 gold biscuits, weighing 116.14 grams each. The customs department collected nearly Rs 1.50 crore as revenue on the imported gold. The previous high after gold import was liberalised was 460 kg, on February 3, 1997.
