Silk merchant kidnapped by unidentified miscreants

BANGALORE, July 16: A 58-year-old silk merchant was kidnapped from the Koramangala area early on Tuesday by four gun-weilding, unidentified persons. The kidnappers fired two rounds before forcing the merchant, N K Jayapuria, into their car and driving off towards Hosur road. It is not clear whether Jayapuria, who was out walking with his dog, was hurt in the firing, though the dog suffered bullet wounds. When the injured dog rushed back home, Jayapuria's family suspected something amiss, and tried in vain to find him. Police suspect that the merchant has been kidnapped for ransom, and are working on clues.
