Vanita Samaj badminton

Bunty Gujral and Roshni Thakur have been given the pride of place in the men's and women's singles of the Vanita Samaj State-Level Open Badminton Tournament to be held here from July 20.

Nimesh Goel, Kunal Vaswani and Vilas Kuwale are seeded behind Gujral in the men's singles while Gauri Narayan is the second seed in the women's singles and the top seed in sub-junior girls section.

Nitin Gole, Sagar Chopra and Riddhi Mota are top seeds in the sub-junior boys, Midget boys and Midget girls events.

India A to visit Pak

nThe India A squad is to visit Pakistan in February-March 1998, to play a series of matches. The team is scheduled to play three four-day Tests, as many One-day internationals and three other three-day ties during the tour.

Talk on appeals

Talk on appeals Advocate Shreedhar Patkar will speak on ``appeals'' at the Thane chapter of the Association of Cricket Umpires on July 19. Among others attending the meeting will be former Ranji player Tukaram Surve, former Test umpire MY Gupte.

Gupte will also present the letter of appreciation to successful candidates in the examination held at Mulund Gymkhana in June
