Breakthrough in Punjab bomb blast cases

CHANDIGARH, July 19: The Punjab police today claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in the Bathinda train blast and the Bagha Purana shoot-out with the arrest of Buta Singh, stated to be involved in both the cases.

Addressing a news conference here, DGP P C Dogra said during preliminary interrogation Buta Singh of Kaleke village near Bagha Purana had confessed that he, alongwith Bhupinder Singh alias Bhinda of Mari Mustafa village and some others, had conspired and planted bombs in the Sri Ganganagar-Ambala train and at a shrine in Bagha Purana in Moga district. The train bomb blast on July 9 had claimed 35 lives.
