MUMBAI, July 20: The Maharashtra government on Friday distributed financial assistance to the families of the police firing victims at Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar.

Out of Rs 2 lakh promised, an amount of Rs 30,000 was given by cheque to each heir of the 11 deceased and the balance amount of Rs 1.70 lakh will be kept in fixed deposit for a period of five years, an official note said here.

The interest of this amount will be available to them each month. The 12 injured received a cheque of Rs 25,000 each.
