FEMA Bill not in monsoon session

NEW DELHI, July 22: Money Laundering Bill and Foreign Exchange Management Bill (FEMA) have not been included in the list of business for the monsoon session of Parliament beginning tomorrow.

As far as new key economic bills are concerned, only Companies Bill figures in the tentative list of Government legislative and other business for the monsoon session. The Government is reportedly reviewing the nature and scope of Money Laundering and FEMA in view of criticism by the Left Parties. They opine that replacement of the existing Act with FEMA would prove to be a bonanza for FERA violators.

The union cabinet in its recent meetings legislative and other business for the coming Parliament session and it was decided to take up as many as 24 new bills in the session.
