MUMBAI, July 23: The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay will be hosting a Major State Ranking tournament from August 3. The newly-former Suburban District Table Tennis Association will be conducting the event, according to its secretary, Dr Bakul Parekh.

The seasons' second major ranking tournament would be held at Kalyan from August 20 to 24 while the MIG Bandra would host the third major state ranking tourney from August 29 to September 3.

The Khar Gymkhana state ranking tournament would be held from September 14 to 19 at their premises while Juhu Vile Parle would host a major state ranking tournament from September 9 to 13.

The State Table Tennis Championship, sponsored by Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers, would be held at Kolhapur in September end.

Following is the state calendar.

August 3-9: BARC Major State Ranking Tournament at Trombay.

Aug 20-24: Major state ranking tourney at Kalyan.

Aug 29-Sept 3: Bandra Open at MIG club.

Sept 9-13: Juhu Vile Parle Open.

Sept 14-19: Khar Gymkhana Open.

The RCF state championships at Kolhapur in September end.

Rapid chess

n CHILDREN'S Chess Academy will conduct an open rapid chess tournament for children below the age of 14 on August 3 at Abhinav Vidyalaya Auditorium, Dombivili (E). Entries will be accepted at Children's Chess Academy, first floor, Patkar Building, Opposite ST stand, near railway station, Dombivili (E).
