Laloo tampering with evidence, says CBI

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

PATNA, July 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today accused Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav of tampering with evidence in the fodder scam cases and pressed for his custody for interrogation.

Arguing against Yadav's anticipatory bail petition, CBI Standing Counsel Rakesh Kumar said that custodial interrogation of the chief minister was a must to recover the money siphoned off in the multi-crore fodder scam. Kumar also charged that Yadav had recently threatened a travel agent with ``dire consequences'' to procure a receipt showing he had made payments for purchase of air tickets for his family members. The investigating agency had alleged that the travel agent had obliged him with those air tickets at the behest of a key accused in the scam.
