Crime Watch -- Servants rob landlady

MUMBAI, July 23: A resident of Haji Ali was robbed of gold and diamonds worth Rs 1.56 lakh by his own servants on Monday. The incident occurred when Linima N Nanavati (57) and a relative had gone out of their residence on an errand. The two accused, Ramu (22) and Dinesh (24), cleared away diamonds and jewellery and fled. While some suspects have been rounded up, the real culprits are still at large. Tardeo police have registered a case while the investigations are in progress.

Trader robbed

A businessman on his way home was robbed of Rs 70,000 at Khar on Tuesday evening.

According to police sources, Praveen C Gala (36), owner of a tiles shop at Linking Road, closed his shop at 9.30 pm and was returning home. While he passing through the 13th Road, two unidentified persons accosted him and forcibly took away the plastic bag full of cash and escaped in a taxi. The Khar police station has registered a case and investigating the matter.

Bail plea rejected

The bail application of Ramesh R Patil, an accused and key-conspirator in Datta Samant murder case, was rejected by the session judge S P Kukday on Tuesday. This is Patil's fourth bail plea which has been rejected.

Narrow escape

A businessman at Dharavi had a narrow escape when two unidentified persons opened fire at him while he was travelling on the Sion-Mahim link Road on Monday. Rajesh P Bothawana (26) was accosted by two persons and tried to rob him. When he resisted the attack and tried to escape, the culprits opened fire at him. Dharavi police has registered a case of attempt to murder and are investigating the case.
