Jadhav strikes two for GBP

MUMBAI, July 25: Greater Bombay Police Jr (GBP) overcame Borivlian Sports Club 4-1 in the MDFA Division I football league match played at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel, today. Sanket Jadhav was GPB's trump card, pumping in two first-half goals to pave way for the cops overwhelming win. Jadhav scored the first in the 17th minute, scoring from close range past a hapless goalkeeper. He struck again when he put away Vasant Gade's attempt that bounced off the bar. Jadhav's gentle push brought the cops a two-goal lead. The GPB side consolidated in the second-half with a lucky goal by Kapil Chavan, the ball entering the net after taking the inside edge of the post. Vasant Gade completed the rout from a through pass by Venkatesh Tondwalkar. Neil Alphonso scored a consolation for the Borivlians with a fine header from a corner kick by Arnaldo Kinny just minutes before the final whistle.A Division II league match played earlier at the same venue saw Patliputra outclass BPCL (Mkt) with a 2-0 win.
