Kunte draws again, Vijayalakshmi loses

ZAGAN (POLAND), July 25: India's National `A' champion Abhijit Kunte continued his dead-lock run with yet another draw with Stojanovic while International Women Master Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman lost to Women Grandmaster Monica Bobowska of Poland in the 10th round of the World Junior Boys and Girls Chess Championships here today. Playing with black pieces, kunte, seeded 31, held 24th seed International Master M Stojanovic (Yugoslavia) to record his fifth consecutive draw. He now meets little-known Stefan Schneider (Sweden) in the 11th round. Vijayalakshmi (6 pts) failed to hold seventh seed Bobrowska with black pieces. She now placed 11th with nine others and faces Sergeeva M (Kazakhistan) in the 11th round. US junior champion Shaked Tal and Maceija B of Poland posted victories against Vladimir Baklan (Ukraine) and Dao Thien Thai (Vietnam) respectively. With 7.5 points, both the players, along with Hristos Banikas (Greece), jointly lead in the boys section. RESULTS Boys: Movsesian (Cze-7) drew with Banikas H (Gre-7.5), Shaked Tal (US-7.5) bt Baklan V (Ukr-6.5), Dao T (Vie-6.5) lost to Macieja B (Pol-7.5), Ivanisevic I (Yug-7) bt Majer E (Rus-6.5), Ponomariov R (Ukr-6.5) lost to Morozevich A (Rus-7), Kunte A (Ind-5.5) drew with Stojanovic (Yug-5.5). Girls: Dworakowska J (Pol-8) bt Danielian E (Arm-7), Lomineishvilli M (Geo-7) lost to Hunt H (Eng-7.5), Vasilievich T (Ukr-7.5) bt Zatonski A (Ukr-6.5), Bobrowska M (Pol-7) bt Vijayalakshmi S (Ind-6), Radziewicz I (Pol-6) lost to Ciuksyte D (Ltu-7).
