Rs 25,000 crore Ninth Plan outlay for TN

NEW DELHI, July 25 : The Planning Commission yesterday fixed the Ninth Plan outlay for Tamil Nadu at Rs 25,000 crore as against the Eighth Plan outlay of Rs 10,200 crore.

This was decided at a meeting between the State Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Planning Commission deputy chairman Madhu Dandavate here.

The resources for the Ninth Plan include central assistance of Rs 9,987.91 crore and the State has to mobilise the rest.

Karunanidhi said priority will be given to infrastructure, agriculture, rural development and social services sectors.

The outlay for Infrastructure, including industries, would be Rs 9,772 crore (39.09 per cent), Social Services sector Rs 8,151 crore (32.60 per cent) and Agriculture and Rural Development Rs 6,906 crore (27.62 per cent), according to an official release here.
