BANGALORE, July 24: The Karnataka government needs to exercise caution in signing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that force the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) to buy power from independent power producers instead of using the cheaper power from the State-owned thermal and hydro power stations, according to Prof. Amulya Reddy of International Energy Initiative (IEI). He also called for corporatisation of the electricity board to make it run on commercial lines, autonomous regulation, transperancy in functioning etc.
