State level horticulture institute mooted


COIMBATORE, July 25: There is an urgent need to set up a horticulture training institute in Tamilnadu, as horticulture crops occupies about four lakh hectares representing 8% of the gross cropped area in the State, according to Abdul Kareem, vice-chancellor, TN Agricultural University. He said that the university's collaborative research alliance with Taiwan and Columbia was progressing as expected. He also said that the horticultural research stations at Ooty and Kodaikanal were focussing on developing improved varieties of vegetables.
