BANGALORE, July 25: The Karnataka government plans to amend the Panchayat Raj Act 1993. The proposed amendments in the Act include setting up of Nyayapanchayats and empowering the State Election Commission in the constitution of panchyat bodies which are currently vested with deputy commissioners. Effort will also be directed towards checking misappropriation of funds and other irregularities.
