Statescape -- MJP-RJP merger in Gujarat
GANDHINAGAR: The Maha Gujarat Janata Party (MJP), a regional outfit in Gujarat formed by a faction of Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs, has merged with the Rashtriya Janata Party. The decision to merge MJP with RJP was taken at a meeting of MJP leaders on Monday, according to its president, Dilip Parikh in a statement here on Tuesday. At present, the Maha Gujarat Janata Party (MJP) has 52 MLAs in the 182-member state Assembly. The Chief Minister, Shankarsinh Vaghela was the lone member of RJP. The RJP, formed by Vaghela, would now have 53 members in the House. Govt lapses in Purulia case bared NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has highlighted certain administrative lapses on part of different government agencies which came to light during its probe into the Purulia arms drop case, Lok Sabha was told today. The Bihar government was sensitised about the arms dropping before it actually took place and the Research and Analysis Wing of the cabinet secretariat had obtained advance information from another intelligence agency, the minister of state for home, Maqbool Dar, said in a written reply.
