MUMBAI, July 29: MHADA has ordered an enquiry into the causes which led to the collapse of Ganesh Bhavan building at 36-Champa Gully, Kalbadevi, on June 29.

Chief engineer (I) V S Karandikar, who has been appointed as inquiry officer, has appealed to the public to submit written statements about the maintenance and action taken by MHADA, heavy articles stored in the building, additional structures and alterations made by tenants of the building.

Information related to the collapse should be submitted to the chief engineer by July 31 at MHADA, Room No 425, 3rd floor, Griha Nirman Bhavan, Bandra (E), Mumbai 400051.

Car finance

The 20th Century Finance Corporation Ltd (TCFC) has announced its new auto finance scheme for higher-end luxury car segment. Under the scheme, the company will finance new Maruti Esteem cars and Daewoo Cielos at zero per cent intrest rate. This will be one of the flexible finance options offered by TCFC and the amount will depend on the car and the period of the loan.

The Central Excise has announced that persons in the following categories should obtain registration certificates under the provisions of Chapter V of the Finance Act and service tax rules framed by the jurisdictional commissionerate: custom house and steamer agents, air travel agents and mandap keepers, consulting engineers and manpower recruitments, rent a car scheme operators, outdoor caterers and pandal or shamiana contractors.
