Ferry service on East Coast proposed
NAGERCOIL, July 28: A ferry service between Chennai and Kanyakumari, via Mahabalipuram, Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Rameswaram and Tuticorin has been proposed by Singapore-based businessman, Stephen Goah. The proposed service is likely to be a 100% private sector venture with local promoters, though the project is still in its nascent stage. Goah had visited officals of the Surface Transport ministry to obtain permission for the same and to ask for provision of landing and berthing centres. If successful, the service might even be extended to Colachel on the West coast. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
