Kalyan Diary -- Considerate CR

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, July 31: Weight problem? No time for workouts? Well here's help. Try travelling from Kalyan station. You'll either be left standing on the bridge while local trains chug by without an announcement or worse there'll be an announcement saying that the train is arriving on another platform when it has already arrived there. No problem with that since you are on platform 3 and the authorities have decided to bring the train on platform 7. And the considerate planners have planned both the interconnecting bridges at the tail ends of the platforms. If this is not enough there's always the announcement of the 1.06 pm train being delayed by 10-15 minutes around 1.55 pm. Not that you'll get time to think of anything because the announcer's voice will keep you busy reminding you to buy tickets, keep the station clean and about porter charges. We wouldn't recommend you trying to approach any authorities on the station for help. After all that they are already doing for you you can't expect more, can you?

Flexing muscles

The KDMC municipal commissioner Prithviraj Bayas has begun flexing his muscles and how? Well to begin with he has alleged that his predecessor T S Chandrashekhar allowed a lot of lrregularities in alloting road contracts. He has gone ahead and demanded an enquiry too. Not that Chandrashekhar is fazed. Ready for an enquiry, he challenges Bayas to prove that there was any irregularity. Speculation is rife in the KDMC that Bayas is trying to get back at Chandrashekhar because of the constant comparisons that are made between him and his predecessor. If that is true then it will be worth watching who has the last laugh. Watch this space.
