Elephant in zoo cured of foot and mouth disease


CHENNAI, July 30: For the first time in South East Asia, an animal in captivity has been cured of the dreadful foot and mouth disease (FMD). The suffering animal, Nanjan, a 30-year-old elephant at the Guindy Children's Park has been completely cured at a cost of Rs 30,000. A younger elephant in the same zoo, which showed mild symptoms of the disease, has also been cured.
