CBI DIG's briefcase stolen

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

AUGUST 6: The briefcase of a senior officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was stolen on August 2, according to an FIR filed at the Malad police station.

Deputy Inspector General A K Mathur had gone to see his doctor, Shyam Aggrawal at Maharashtra Apartments, S V Road, Malad West, leaving his briefcase with his driver Shashikant Rajapure. While the driver waited in the car two unidentified men came up to him and enquired about an address. After they had left the scene, Rajapure was shocked to find that the briefcase had been stolen.

CBI officials refused to comment on press reports that the briefcase contained papers relating to the Ramseh Kini case, which was also investigated by the CBI. A CBI spokesman when contacted in New Delhi said all Kini papers are in Delhi and that DIG Mathur was never a part of the team investigating the controversial case.
