Protesting Maradona could don Iraqi shirt

BAGHDAD: Diego Maradona could don the Iraqi national stripe for an exhibition match to protest the seven-year-old UN embargo on Iraq, his manager Sebastien Mendez said.

Mendez, who arrived Monday, told AFP he has held talks with Iraq's Football Federation on plans to organise a match in baghdad within the next two months.

``Maradona is ready to play in an exhibition match with the Iraqi team against any selection put forward by the Fedearation, to be played before the international media,'' he said.
