MUMBAI, AUG 7: Pond's India managing director V Balaraman has been appointed to the Hindustan Lever board (HLL) as a non-executive director. With this, HLL's 16-member board has three non-executive directors, the other two being V Narayanan and DS Parekh.

Balaraman has joined the HLL board amidst speculation about a merger of Pond's with HLL. In April 1991, Balaraman became the Pond's managing director, and under him the company recorded strong growth.
