Human chain to commemorate India's freedom

August 7: A 25-kms-long human chain will be formed between King's Circle, Matunga in Central Mumbai and South Indian Education Society's (SIES) management Centre, Nerul in Navi Mumbai on August 10 as part of the golden jubilee celebration of Indian Independence being organised by SIES society. The programme called Bind India Celebration will also feature a eight-kilometer-long banner displaying messages highlighting various social issues. According to an SIES official, the human chain will have one participant dressed in the attire of a national leader after every kilometer. The Society has also organised a "Swarna Jyoti" to be carried along the human chain. Arrangements for a helicopter to shower rose petals all along the 25 kilometer route is also made.
