Kanimozhi to wed Singapore-born Indian

CHENNAI, August 6: TN CM M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi is to wed a Singaporean of Indian origin, Aravindan. The marriage, Kanimozhi's second, is scheduled to be held on August 21, and will be a low-key affair, comprising a registered marriage at home, in the presence of a few friends, followed by a reception at a city hotel. The groom has his roots in Pattukottai in Thanjavur district. Aravindan (33), who makes a modest living by taking assignments to provide English sub-titles for programmes aired by a local Tamil channel, and giving private tutions in English, is an avid reader, with an extensive collection of books. It was their common interest in things literary that drew the couple together. Aravindan first approached Kanimozhi for her poems in Tamil, which he wanted to put on the Internet service with which he was associated. Kanimozhi (29), who took up a career in journalism, quit her post as Sub-editor with `The Hindu' recently, after a trip to Singapore, where she will set up her new home.
