Uday Gharat best scorer

MUMBAI, August 11: Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Cricket Club of India's official scorer Uday Yeshwant Gharat has been awarded the Anand Dass Trophy for the best scorer of the year by the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Scorers of India (ACSSI) in its annual function at the Wankhede Stadium.on Saturday August 9.Gharat, a head cashier in the Bank of Baroda, started doing scoring when he could not find a place in his bank cricket team. He decided to serve the game by doing scoring in the early 70s. Gharat, made his debut for the MCA in 1990-91 Ranji knock-out match between Mumbai and Hyderabad. So far, he has done the scoring in two Test matches (England and West Indies), 12 one-dayers and 45 first class matches at the Wankhede and Brabourne Stadium. ACSSI introduced the Anandji Dass Trophy in its 10th year which was donated by Bomi Tamula, who is also an all-India Test umpire. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
