School children depict freedom struggle on wall

NAGPUR, Aug 12: The students of the local Centre Point School have painted a 50-feet long and five feet high wall painting depicting the Indian freedom movement and 50 year of independence, in the art room of their school.

The children took nine days, from August 1 to August 9, to complete the painting. A total of 25 children participated in the venture under the guidance of their art teacher. The painting depicts historical events and personalities such as Rani Laxmibai, hanging of martyr Bhagat Singh, the Dandi March, Jalianwala Bagh and other famous incidents of pre-and post-independence era.

The painting will be opened for the common public between August 15 and 19 and will be dedicated to Aruna Upadhyaya, Director of school, on August 19, on her birthday. Several students of standard VIII and IX, made special contribution to the project.
