Srinath's return may be delayed

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

BANGALORE, aug 12: Javagal Srinath was non-committal as to when he would be in a position to make a comeback into the Indian team. ``After more than a month of physiotherapy, I am getting into my groove, with light bowling sessions. But I am not sure when I would be fit enough to stage a comeback,'' said Srinath. He refused to speculate as to the time of his getting into top fitness.

Srinath who had come to present the YSR Trophy at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday, said that he was keen to get back but unfortunately, the process of recovery was slow. Earlier, Srinath had expressed the hope that he would be in a position to play for India in the Sahara Cup at Toronto but right now, it looks bleak.

It may be recalled that Srinath had undergone arthroscopic surgery at South Africa in the month of May. Dr Fergusson who had performed the operation, after physiotherapy failed to bring about the desired results, had told the cricketer that there would be ``no loss of pace'' when the cricketer took the field again and that the recovery would be fast.

It appears that the wait has to be longer than anticipated originally.
