Cancellation notices issued to Koyambedu traders

CHENNAI, Aug. 11: The rift between the traders and authorities at the Koyambedu whole sale perishable market here, took a new turn when cancellation notices were issued to 404 shopowners asking them to pay up the installments towards the cost of their shops. The traders have for some time now been asking for enforcement of the Specified Commodities Market (Regulation of Location) Act, and curbing of trading activity at other wholesale markets at Kotwal, Flower Bazaar, Mambalam, Saidapet and Mylapore. Traders feel that unless their business is enhanced, they cannot pay up the stated sum.
