Station masters stir, train services hit
CHENNAI, Aug. 11:
The 24-hour strike by the station masters affiliated to the All-India Station Masters' Association seeking an increase in the basic pay and removal of 'anomalies' in the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission, affected train services in the Southern Railway. Trains were detained at several signal points. Some of the irate passengers turned violent at the Madurantakam station in protest against the hardship caused.
