Laloo to remain in custody till Aug 27

PATNA, August 13: A Patna court today extended the judicial remand of the former Bihar Chief Minister, Laloo Prasad Yadav, till August 27 in connection with three conspiracy angle cases of the multi-crore fodder scam.

The judical remand of two former Bihar ministers, Bhola Ram Toofani and Vidya Sagar Nishad, co-accused in the case, was also extended till August 27 by the special CBI judge, S K Lal in the same cases of the fodder scam.

Yadav, Toofani and Nishad were not produced before the designated CBI court today on account of illness.

The Beur jail authorities informed the court that the three accused were suffering from some ailments therefore, could not be produced in the court.

Meanwhile, in an aside to the main cases, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today submitted a written reply to the designated court over a petition filed Laloo Yadav alleging apprehensions of murderous attempt on him by the investigating agency.

In the reply, the CBI denied the allegations that CBI joint director (east) U N Biswas tried to meet Yadav in the BMP camp jail on of July 31. The agency also refuted reports that Yadav had demanded security to take out a procession on August one.
