EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NASHIK, August 13: The Nashik based `Purush Hakk Sanrakshan Samiti' (Committee for protection of the rights of males) has organised a workshop on `The misuse of section 498 (a) of the IPC by married women', at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar, Mumbai, on August 17.

A spokesman of the committee said that eminent lawyers would speak on the section, under which, dowry cases are registered upto seven years after marriage. He said that the section was being misused by women ``to teach a lesson to their husbands''. The committee offers free legal advice to battered husbands. It has held meetings in Nashik and Dombivli, where husbands narrated their plight on being framed by their wives under false charges.
