CM assures fresh probe into Dalit stripping case

MUMBAI, August 13: Additional director general of police R H Mendonca will reinvestigate the stripping of a Dalit woman in Wardha immediately after the riots at Ramabai Nagar, Ghatkopar following the desecration of a statue of Ambedkar.

The announcement was made by the Chief Minister in a talk with a delegation led by Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar today. The issue followed a discussion on the law and order situation after the police firing at Ghatkopar. The delegation complained about the stabbing of 35 people at Nagpur that followed after the riots. The investigation on the stripping of a Dalit woman in Karanja at Wardha was unsatisfactory, Ambedkar complained to the Chief Minister.

The delegation also complained about a worker named Raut who died due to stone throwing though in reality he died because of a bullet wound.
