Quicktakes -- Govt lifts curbs on flag hoisting

NEW DELHI, August 13: The government has allowed unrestricted display of the national flag throughout the country from the midnight of August 14. ``There will be no objection to the hoisting of the national flag on all public buildings and houses in villages, towns and cities'', a Home Ministry release said on Wednesday. However, the display of the national flag on motor cars shall be strictly in accordance with the provisions of the flag code.

Bofors case

NEW DELHI: The government has directed a committee of senior officers to monitor processing of the Bofors case as also to provide inter-ministerial coordination, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday. Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions S R Balasubramoniyan, told Pramod Mahajan in a written answer that the CBI had submitted a report in the Bofors case with its recommendations to the government.
