CHENNAI, Aug. 12: The Tamil Nadu Animal and Birds Control in Urban Areas Act, passed recently by the State Assembly, inorder to clear the city roads of stray animals, has been given the President's assent. Under the Act, the authorities will impose a fine and even seek imprisonment of violators. The cattle owners would be given six months time to shift their animals to cattle sheds allocated by the civic body.
