SALEM, Aug. 12: The Salem-Dharmapuri Chamber of Commerce has made a plea to the Chief Minister to take steps to generate power from effluents from the 800-odd sago and starch industries in the district. As much as 120 MW of power can be generated thus, they pointed out. The chamber also expressed its appreciation in the State government's efforts to tie up with the Harvard Institute to study the State's economy and chart out economic reforms.
