EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, August 15: A goal in each half by Vinod Solanki and Ashwin Parmar of Adarsh put their team on the winning track against Hearts in a MDFA Harwood League match at St Xavier's ground, Parel today.

Just a minute before half-time, Solanki punished the Hearts custodian Jayesh Uchil with a well placed left-foot long range over his head.

Five minutes into the second-half, Vinayak Behere received a ball near half-line and sprinted towards the left-wing which attracted three Hearts defender. He gave a running ball, bisecting the defence, to sprinting Ashwin who thumped the ball in the right corner of the goal. Substitute Chiman Waghela missed two easy chances in the dying minutes of the match which could have increased the margin for Adarsh by another two goals.

In the third minute, Hearts striker Murli Nair took a long range shot from 30-yards but it went inches over the bar. Parmar got a high ball from the left-half Vinod and he ran down the line to put a curling cross from inside of his boot. Vinayak was waiting in the centre, he received the pass neatly but his shot at the goal seemed like giving gathering practice to goalkeeper Uchil.

For Hearts, Murli Nair and Crise M tried hard to invade the Adarsh defence as Mukesh Waghela stood in their way like a wall. In the 30th minute, Hearts received a corner and the ball flew to Anup who punched a half-volley from the top of the 16-yard line, the ball flying like a bullet over the bar.
