IAF felicitates 1947 veterans

NEW DELHI, AUG 17: AIR Chief Marshal (retd) Arjan Singh, the first Indian commanding officer of an Air Force base, was felicitated on Saturday at the Indian Air Force (IAF) station at Ambala, along with 1947 IAF veterans. Arjan Singh had taken over the command of Ambala Air Force (AF) station, then called as `Camp Umballa,' on 15 August 1947. Two days later on 17 August, the first Indian and Pakistani premiers Jawarharlal Nehru and Liyakat Ali Khan visited the Ambala station and were received by Arjan Singh.
