Army to ensure power supply during AP stir

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

HYDERABAD, Aug 17: Even as the two-day strike called by the majority union of the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB) commences from tomorrow, the government today warned that it would invoke ESMA and dismiss employees who resort to sabotage. All possible steps including deployment of technical personnel from the Army would be taken to ensure that there is no disruption in power supply, the government said.According to the notice served on the board, the strike begins at 6 am tomorrow and ends at 6 am on August 20.Though the strike was initially announced by the Joint Council of Action (JCA) of employees comprising nine unions and associations, almost all of them have subsequently disassociated from the stir following an assurance by the government that there would be no retrenchment or change in service conditions.
