Subbarami Reddy award for actor Sivaji Ganesan

HYDERABAD, Aug 17: Dadasaheb Phalke award winner Sivaji Ganesan, poet and film producer M S Reddy and mimicry artiste Nerella Venumadhav have been selected for the T Subbarami Reddy Kalapeetham's `Life-time Achievement Puraskars-1997'. Each of the award winners will be given Rs 50,000 cash and a citation at a function to be held at Visakhapatnam on September 17. The Life-time Achievement Awards were instituted in 1995 in memory of Subbarami Reddy's parents, the late T Babu Reddy and Rukminamma. Announcing the names of the award winners, Awards Committee chairman C Narayana Reddy said the Kalapeetham sponsored by Subbarami Reddy Foundation had also instituted national award for journalists in memory of G K Reddy. The winner of this award will be announced in March. Dasari Narayana Rao, Arudra and playback singer P Susheela bagged the honours in 1996. Foundation chairman T Subbarami Reddy, MP, said that he would extend all help to promote Telugu culture and arts. Union Ministers S Jaipal Reddy, Ram Vilas Paswan and Yerran Naidu besides veteran film actor A Nageswara Rao will participate in the function at Visakhapatnam, he added.
